Often, I’m covering events for The Daily that my editors aren’t able to send designated photographers to. Adapting to these circumstances, I’ve taken several pictures on the go with just my phone that capture intense emotions surrounding public issues up for debate in Evanston.
CHICAGO ARTIST TROTTER ALEXANDER EXPLORES HAWAIIAN CULTURE IN DITTMAR GALLERY EXHIBIT ‘KA MAKANA O’KA’

As part of my Daily Northwestern Developing Staffer graduation process, I needed to produce one piece of multimedia reporting. I chose to create a photo gallery of Chicago artist Trotter Alexander’s gallery, “The Story of Ka Makana o’ka,” which was the featured exhibit at Northwestern’s Norris Center Dittmar Gallery for the second half of Fall Quarter. I experimented with trying to connect individual pieces of artwork and integrating gallery patrons with the art.
NAPERVILLE RESIDENTS RALLY TO PROTEST GUN VIOLENCE

After the Uvalde school shooting, students in Naperville, Illinois organized a gun control rally. I took pictures of the rally in addition to reporting and writing a story on the event. The cover photo featured U.S. Rep. Bill Foster (D-IL), who surprised me when he later asked Central Times if he could use the picture for his reelection campaign advertisements.
